Hessel Group always enjoys attending this expo and we had a wonderful team of 12 volunteers from the organisation to work in our stand across the weekend. We met so many excited, nervous and eager to learn families who are navigating the precious early years in their growing families.

We spoke to people about how Hessel Group can play a role in their family dynamic. We understand the changing needs of families particularly in the child care space where more flexibility is required. Children have different needs too with many requiring stimulation, education and a challenge where they can use their skills while developing and continuously learning.

With people working longer, out of hours and away from home, the traditional support network for families has certainly changed. Thankfully Hessel Group has services to meet these demands and support the entire family to function and succeed. Some of the services we discussed at expo are:

In-Home Care

This was our most popular topic at the PBC Expo. Hessel Group is an approved provider of this flexible form of child care that is provided in your home by an approved and trained educator. In-Home Care is a Government Childcare funded service attracting the ChildCare Subsidy. Follow the link to see if you qualify for the service and you can apply for the Childcare Subsidy there too.

Allied Health Support

We received lots of questions regarding NDIS and the support available for their family. Hessel Group is an approved provider of the NDIS and supports many clients in our clinic, at their home and in the community while following our client's NDIS plans. On Sunday Laura and Duncan who are Behaviour Support Practitioners with Hessel Allied Health Services, volunteered in our stand. Behaviour Support is a program that works with people of all ages to address, understand and aims to decrease the frequency and severity of challenging behaviours. Other services our NDIS approved clinic provides are, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology and speech pathology.

We also spoke with people who are interested in working as a Disability Support Worker, a highly rewarding career option that offers flexibility and development. You can study for your Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) CHC33015 for as low as $250 should you qualify for all the generous government grants. Our Registered Training Organisation 40387 Enhance Training can help with enquiries and enrolments for this course.

Babysitting

Hessel Group Babysitters have been in demand this year with the return of many popular events to our calendars. We take babysitting bookings for a minimum of 3 hours which covers most football games, theatre shows, movies, dinners or a hike through one of South Australia's National Parks. Our Babysitting services are agile and can fit in with your family's requirements in the home or on location allowing you to enjoy some much needed social experiences or time to yourself knowing your children are safe and content. A practical way to use this service is to share with friends, one of our babysitters can care for up to four children.

Our babysitters are all well trained and qualified sharing in our organisation's values of;

Collaborative (We work with you to ensure your children are comfortable and happy)

Committed (We are on time, well presented, continuous learners and dedicated to their clients)

Creative: (We enjoy challenging our clients with fun activities to promote engagement and learning)

Hessel Children's Centre

Centre Director, Hana Simes was in our stand on Saturday morning where she enjoyed learning about our In-Home Care Service while meeting with potential new families for our centre or talking about childcare in general. She was able to advise on what to look for and what to ask centres when inspecting childcare centres. Hessel Children's Centre is based in the heart of Port Adelaide on Commercial Road across 2 levels with plenty of outdoor play, a music room, industrial kitchen and staff that will light up your day. Book a tour this week via their website.

In General

Thank you for the lovely feedback, interest and comments on our South Australian business. Here's what we'll be working on thanks to your inspiration:

Parenting Courses: A wonderful and practical forum to help with all aspects of family life. Course units will cover all of life's requirements when your new child arrives, gives you an understanding of the services on offer and where to look for guidance and assistance. Mainly, this will be another expansion to your network where you can share your experiences with parents in a relaxed and comfortable setting.

Harbour Town Creche: With Covid-19 restrictions easing, we'll work closely with the centre to bring this back for shoppers and their little ones. One lady asked - please bring it back, not for me but every time we go there, our son asks to attend the Hessel Creche.

Hessel Group has a popular mobile creche service too, we attend many events (corporate, family, community) and care for the real stars of the show while the adults can focus and relax.

We are now busily judging all of the wonderful artwork from our colouring in competition. One lucky entrant will win a family pass for the Adelaide Zoo, we'll announce the winner on the Hessel Group Facebook Page.

Until next year PBC Expo, thanks again everyone.
